Songs
The Europe Song
Here’s a little ode to the number “12”
There are 12 stars in the video.
There are 12 kids singing in this version.
There are 12 stars in the European Union flag.
There are 12 words in the song. They’re all made up.
The original plan was to launch the music video on 12.12 last year.
The song tempo starts at 104 bpm and ends at 116 bpm (that’s 12 bpm faster).
The last 12 notes are Beethoven’s Ode to Joy (you’ll hear it now you know it’s there).
A. Rybak - Europe Skies
Now I'm home, but I cannot stay
I dream of you every day
Got to know every inch of you
Will you make my dream come true?
I dream of you every day
Got to know every inch of you
Will you make my dream come true?
There's no place like home they say
You're my home, so hear me pray.
You're my home, so hear me pray.
I don't know you, but I need more time
Promise me you'll be mine
Promise me you'll be mine
Birds are flying over Europe skies,
Tell me please why can't I?
Tell me please why can't I?
Times have changed, but so have I
I view my life through your eyes
I view my life through your eyes
On the go in my tourist's shoes
But I'll stay truthful to you
But I'll stay truthful to you
Cause there's no place like home they say
You're my home, so I guess I'll stay.
You're my home, so I guess I'll stay.
I don't…

Anthem of Europe
The "Anthem of Europe" is the anthem of the Council of Europe and the European Union. It is based on "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony composed in 1823.
Ode to Joy
Joy, beautiful sparkle of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium,
We enter, fire-drunk,
Heavenly one, your shrine.
Your magics bind again
What custom has strictly parted.
All men become brothers
Where your tender wing lingers.
The Delegation of the European Union to Albania with the special attention of Ambassador Ettore Sequi, produced this song and this music video for the Nobel Peace Prize 2012 received on December 10, 2012 by Mr. Barroso, Mr. Van Rompuy and Mr. Schulz on behalf of the European Union.
Joy, bright spark of divinity,
Daughter of Elysium,
Fire-inspired we tread
Thy sanctuary.
Magic power re-unites
All that custom has divided,
All men become brothers
Under the sway of thy gentle wings.
